Denise Gilman


imagem Denise Gilman teaches and co-directs the Immigration Clinic at the University of Texas Law School She also teaches a Refugee Law and Policy seminar. Professor Gilman has written and practiced extensively in the international human rights and immigrants' rights fields. She held positions at the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights, Human Rights First and the Washington Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights and Urban Affairs. Professor Gilman's scholarship includes: Realizing Liberty: The Use Of International Human Rights Law To Realign Immigration Detention In The United States, 36 Fordham Int'l L.J. 243 (2013); A "Bilingual" Approach to Language Rights, 24 Harv. Hum. Rts. J. 1 (2011); and Seeking Breaches in the Wall: An International Human Rights Law Challenge to the Texas-Mexico Border Wall, 46 Tex. Int'l L.J. 257 (2011). Professor Gilman was recently re-appointed by the President of the American Bar Association to serve as a member of the ABA Commission on Immigration for the 2013-2014 term.
