Wendy Chan

imagem Wendy Chan is Professor of Sociology in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology at Simon Fraser University in Canada. Her research examines the criminalization of vulnerable groups in the context of immigration, the welfare state and in the media. She has written numerous articles on immigration enforcement and control in Canada. She has published five books, the most recent titled "Racialization, Crime and Criminal Justice in Canada" which includes two chapters on the criminalization of racialized immigrants. Her current research projects examines the rise of crimmigration policies in Canada, the racialized impact of cross-border marriage fraud enforcement, and the treatment of immigrants with mental health problems in the criminal justice system. Wendy is co-Director of the Feminist Institute for Studies in Law and Society and Co-Leader of the theme group Criminal Justice, Mental Health, and Substance Use at the Center for the Study of Gender, Social Inequities and Mental Health.
