Sofia Neves holds a doctoral degree in Social Psychology from the Universidade do Minho (Portugal), where she developed her thesis on The Deconstruction of Gendered Discourses of Love, Power and Violence in Intimate Relationships: Feminist Methodologies in Critical Social Psychology.
She is an Assistant Professor at Instituto Superior da Maia (ISMAI, Portugal), where she coordinates the First Cycle of Studies in Psychology and develops research on Gender Violence, Feminist Studies and Migrations.
She published five books on Love, Power and Violence in Intimacy (2008), Victimology: Science and Activism (2010), Gender and Social Sciences (2011), Psychological and Social Intervention with Victims – Children (2012) and Psychological and Social Intervention with Victims – Adults (2012), as well as several national and international papers and book chapters.
